A run-down car park site in South Wimbledon will be transformed by a new high quality eco housing scheme.

Located at the junction of Milner Road and Morden Road, approximately 1.2km to the south east of Wimbledon Town Centre and less than a minute’s walk from South Wimbledon Underground Station, this  six-storey residential-led development will comprise of fifteen apartments, three townhouses and a commercial unit at street level.

Constructed using CLT (Cross Laminated Timber) the design had to incorporate lightweight construction materials due to a London Underground tunnel located directly under the site.

The development will have a distinctive and elegant profile on its prominent corner position. When approaching from the Kingston Road and Morden Road junction, and from afar, the new building will visibly improve its urban setting by complementing the existing urban grain and nearby Grade II listed South Wimbledon Underground Station.

The high quality buildings have been designed to respond to and enhance the character and setting of the area. All apartments and houses will have outdoor spaces in the form of balconies, terraces or winter gardens and the buildings use a simple palette of materials composed of glazed terracotta and timber cladding to interiors.

FCBStudios successfully achieved  planning consent for the development in July 2015.
