This significant brownfield development brings high quality contemporary housing to a central Cheltenham location and helps repair a piece of the damaged urban fabric. The project involved the demolition of an unsightly 1960s office block and redevelopment of the site to provide high density, high quality private housing. Positioned on an extremely sensitive site within a conservation area opposite Cheltenham College, the scheme demonstrates a modern design approach in a historic setting.

The 96 dwelling scheme includes flats, penthouses and houses, all with underground parking. The buildings comprise of a 100 metre long, five-storey terrace of apartments with a set-back penthouse level; two circular four-storey pavilions with a landscaped courtyard; a four-storey villa block; and three-storey townhouses at the rear of the site.

The main terrace is set back from Bath Road behind a mature landscaped garden which is complemented by a communal courtyard area, with individual private gardens for the townhouses.

The crisp, white, externally-insulated render system makes reference to the stucco facades of Regency Cheltenham and gives good thermal performance to the building envelope.
