Stretford Masterplan
In Brief

Bruntwood Works and Trafford Council

The Stretford Masterplan addresses the problems faced by High Streets and town centres around the UK with a strategy that puts people at the heart of the town, with new places to play, work, shop and live.

The masterplan vision is for a vibrant mixed-use town centre anchored around a sequence of new public spaces. The proposal will diversify the current retail, leisure and residential offer by re-invigorating the high street and delivering up to 800 new homes.

Stretford has long been car-dominated. Our plans aim to re-connect Stretford through the redevelopment of Stretford Mall and Lacy Street, reinstating historic routes through the centre, integrating residents, parks, public transport and the canal with the existing shopping centre for a safer, cleaner and greener Stretford.

By working closely with the community, the plans have developed to stitch the mall and the town centre back into its surroundings through a series of people-centred interventions. This masterplan aims to re-imagine Stretford as a place for people, creating a sustainable town centre with a rich variety of uses and services.
