The development is part of the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUI Galway) masterplan which will deliver commercially viable, modern, appealing and environmentally friendly student accommodation on the campus in addition to other faculty buildings.
Adjacent to the existing Corrib Village on the northern edge of the campus, this new student accommodation comprises 429 high quality student bed spaces integrated into 4-6 bedroom units with shared living/dining/kitchen facilities. The apartments are contained within 4 blocks that are arranged to create two landscaped courtyards. The design also incorporates a student hub along with self-service laundry and secure cycle store facilities.
This new neighbourhood provides different environments for student life, the student’s individual private room, communal living and social spaces and the generous landscape which forms the setting for the new buildings. Key to the success of this project has been its integration into the existing surroundings whilst also making way for future development of the envisaged masterplan. FCBStudios and Coady are now working on the next phase of student housing on the campus.
