Brixton Green is a community led redevelopment of a strategic site owned by Lambeth Council. The framework proposal identifies a mix of residential and community uses, including a new Cultural Centre, Dental Surgery and Community Centre alongside services that will enable residents to live more sustainable lives.

The site along Somerleyton Road is of strategic importance to the people of Brixton. It borders the train line that divides Brixton town centre from the Somerleyton triangle. Although the site is just 400 yards from Brixton tube, it has considerably lower activity than the other side of the tracks. This reduces economic activity and community safety.

Brixton Green is a community formed, non-profit, registered mutual society to help move forward the regeneration of this key site for the benefit of the community.

Inspired by how FCBStudios integrated the principles of sustainability, community, art, social inclusion, tolerance and economic vitality into One Brighton, Brixton Green appointed FCBStudios in 2011. We worked with Brixton Green and Lambeth Council to develop a viable framework that both the council and community could buy into.
