Tim is an Associate at FCBStudios and, alongside Ian Taylor, leads environmental research and innovation for the practice, identifying, developing and enabling research across sectors and projects. His expertise includes embodied carbon, circular economy, regenerative design, and his focus is on making truly net-zero carbon buildings.

Tim specialises in healthcare, education, life science and masterplanning, with an expertise in multi-faceted and complex projects.

His work includes the award-winning Chelsea Academy and Southbank Centre. Tim co-led the design of the Natural History Museum’s new collections, research and digitisation centre in Reading. Tim supported the estate transformation design work of the Imperial Healthcare Trust’s four London campuses, which included clinical programme design of St Mary’s Hospital. At Ulster University and for the Britannia masterplan, London, Tim provided project management support.

Tim is co-founder and co-author of the Part Z proposals to regulate embodied carbon in the UK. He is the lead author of two LETI publications on the circular economy in construction. Tim has helped initiate - and still works on - various UK construction industry initiatives to remove insurance obstacles for the use of mass timber, innovative low carbon concrete, bio-based materials and circular economy materials reuse in construction.

Before joining FCBStudios in 2007, Tim worked as an actuary and management consultant.
