Brighton Dome shortlisted for RIBA South East Award 2025
12 February 2025
We’re delighted to announce that Brighton Dome Corn Exchange and Studio Theatre has been shortlisted for a RIBA South East Award 2025.
From Indian-inspired domes to Art Deco details, Brighton Dome has seen radical architectural changes over the years. We are proud to have refurbished the Grade I listed Corn Exchange and Grade II listed Studio Theatre for modern audiences.
The project restores four historic buildings, adding a new public foyer to improve venue connections. Conservation work has revealed and restored key features like the Corn Exchange’s arched timber frame, while new spaces—including a top-lit bar, gallery, and pedestrian-friendly restaurant—enhance visitor and artist experiences.
Upgrades provide Brighton Dome & Festival Ltd (BDBF) with greater flexibility, accessibility, and infrastructure. Anita’s Room supports local artists and community groups, while the Corn Exchange now hosts diverse events with modern features such as sub-floor storage, a motorised truss, and energy-efficient ventilation. The Studio Theatre, redesigned for intimacy and versatility, now offers improved capacity, facilities, and a ground-floor restaurant.
We look forward to welcoming the judges to the venue.
