Stanbrook Abbey wins EASA/National Churches Trust Presidents' Award

Stanbrook Abbey today picked up the Presidents' Award for new church building at the EASA National Churches Trust Awards ceremony at St Mellitus College in London.

The awards ceremony was attended by Peter Clegg from FCBStudios who was joined by Sisters from the Abbey.

The Abbey, designed by FCBStudios, is a new home for the Conventus of Our Lady of Consolation, a Benedictine community of nuns who devote their lives to study, work and prayer. Relocating from their old Victorian home in Worcestershire, the nuns’ contemplative way of life required spaces that were simple, tranquil and beautiful, or as they put it in their monastic vision brief, a place where they could ‘pray always’.

The Presidents' Award is awarded on behalf of the Ecclesiastical Architects and Surveyors Association President and the National Churches Trust’s Joint Presidents, the Archbishops of Canterbury and York.
