South Kilburn regeneration project shortlisted for Housing Design Award

South Kilburn regeneration projects Gloucester House and Durham Court, have been shortlisted in the Housing Design Awards 2017 unbuilt category.

The site is part of the wider London Borough of Brent’s regeneration programme for the South Kilburn Estate. This particular phase of the project comprises of the demolition of existing 1960s and 70s social housing, currently providing 209 dwellings, and the re-construction of approximately 236 new homes and an energy centre for the South Kilburn Neighbourhood Heating System.

An important site, it provides an entry point into South Kilburn from Kilburn High Road, and is within the ‘Historic Quarter’ with some listed buildings and an adjoining conservation area.

The regeneration of South Kilburn is approximately half way through it’s fifteen year programme and aims to transform the area into a sustainable and mixed neighbourhood, creating a real sense of place and belonging.

FCBStudios are leading the masterplan working with Alison Brooks Architects and Gort Scott Architects who are also developing independent blocks within the site.
