Largest cross-laminated timber built structure in UK wins RIBA Award

William Perkin Church of England High School picked up a RIBA Regional Award at the ceremony in London last night.

The school was established under the Free School programme, in response to the growing demand for school places in Greenford, and was required to be open sixteen months after the contractor-led team won the bid.

To meet the tight programme and budget the superstructure was designed in cross-laminated timber (CLT) and was erected in just nineteen weeks, making William Perkin the largest timber CLT structure in the UK.
