FCBStudios have been appointed by The London Borough of Hackney as overall masterplan lead, school and housing architect for the mixed-use Britannia project in Shoreditch.
The Britannia project will provide a new six form entry secondary school, including a sixth form, to meet an increasing need for secondary school places in the borough, and to replace the existing Britannia Leisure Centre with new, modern facilities capable of meeting the demand of the growing population in this area. This critical social infrastructure will be supported by the delivery of a mix of private for sale and affordable housing fully integrated in the overall masterplan.
Keith Bradley Senior Partner at FCBStudios said: ‘We are delighted to have been selected for this fantastic project that offers the opportunity to regenerate a key site in Hackney, forging new links with Shoreditch Park to the south and the Colville Estate Redevelopment to the north, and regenerating a thriving London community with the facilities and amenities it needs.’
The project is due to go to planning in spring 2018.
