FCBStudios has recently been appointed to develop a 15-year strategic masterplan for the National Museum of Ireland's five sites in Dublin and County Mayo. The project will create a roadmap to guide the NMI through critical changes ahead and will set out proposals for rethinking the use of buildings and spaces, enhancing legibility and circulation, providing resources and rethinking gallery displays.
The aim of the masterplan is to provide a sustainable operational model for the long-term future of the museum. The study will be ambitious and will be focused on securing the financial resources – both capital and operational – for enhancing the visitor experience, improving collections management and physical and intellectual accessibility.
Clare Hughes, Partner at FCBStudios said “The long term aspiration of the masterplan is to ensure that the National Museum plays a vital role in telling the story of Ireland, in sustaining the identity of this small nation and stands at the forefront of Ireland's cultural life.”
