Open Studios: Architects Through the Looking Glass and Mad Hatters Tea PartyOpen Studios: Architects Through the Looking Glass and Mad Hatters Tea Party
On Saturday 30th June 2012 we opened our studio doors to join in the London Festival of Architecture's Playful City 2012.
To entertain our guests (general public, clients, local businesses and other architects) we had put together an impressive display of cardboard concept models which were inspired by the brief “Architects Through the Looking Glass”.
Using only cardboard, sound and light we created a series of installations that teased, challenged and inspired our visitors to think about architecture and about the city in playful and surprising ways. Interactive installations filled our event space, spilling out onto the streets; totems and colourful hand drawn chalk lines beckoned people in from around Fitzrovia and our Mad Hatter’s tea party gave hot tea and home made cakes to the festival-goers.
A few of our architects gave short presentations to a packed house to explain the concepts behind the installations and then more tea was served!
Thanks to everyone who contributed to a fantastic event. Karl Marx said he felt honoured to be included…..
