Shakespeare's New Place opens to the publicShakespeare's New Place opens to the public
FCBStudios have been working with the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust to transform this internationally significant heritage site into a window on the world of William Shakespeare for the 21st century.
This landmark attraction for Stratford-Upon-Avon opened to the public in August and invites visitors to walk in the playwright’s footsteps, and explore a dramatic new landscape and exhibition centre on the very site where William Shakespeare had his family home for 19 years, during which he wrote many of his best known works.
The garden where Shakespeare's house once stood has been re-imagined under the creative direction of Expedition Engineering, using landscape and sculpture to evoke a sense of the lost building and its most famous occupant.
FCBStudios have led in the conservation of the adjoining Grade I Listed Tudor townhouse that now serves as an enhanced and fully accessible Exhibition Centre, with a new-build oak framed extension that showcases contemporary construction, craftsmanship and architecture, in a seamless blend of old and new.
