NUI Galway student accommodation and hub gets planningNUI Galway student accommodation and hub gets planning
A new student accommodation development designed by FCBStudios, in collaboration with Coady Partnership Architects, for the National University of Ireland Galway (NUI Galway) received planning permission last month.
The project is for 429 bed spaces made up of 76 4-6 bedroom apartments to be built on a new site adjacent to Corrib Student Village, and includes a student hub and reception facilities centred around two large landscaped courtyards.
This is the first, and possibly most controversial development (due to its proximity to nearby residents) to be carried out by the University as part of their greater masterplan aspirations for the campus, which runs along the idyllic western bank of the River Corrib.
The project will deliver commercially viable, modern, high quality and environmentally friendly student accommodation on the campus and is expected to start on site by the end of the year.
