Akos Juhasz

Akos has worked primarily within the education sector and has contributed to a number of cultural, residential and civic projects and competition winning entries. He completed the Isaac Newton Academy in 2012 and was project architect on Franshion Green Building Exhibition Centre - the first BREEAM Outstanding accredited building in China. He is currently leading an international team to design a community focussed, sustainable residential development in Budapest. Akos joined our Bath office in 2003 having been educated in Budapest, Helsinki and Bath and has taught for 20 years in both Hungary and the UK.

Alex Morris

Alex has over 20 years of experience at FCBStudios. He has held key roles on major higher education buildings including the £50m Business School at Manchester Metropolitan University and the refurbishment of Bristol University Library in the Grade II* listed Wills Memorial Building. His workplace experience includes the £20m redevelopment of the Grade II listed Farmiloe Building in London and a new headquarters and factory for Neal’s Yard Remedies. His experience also takes in commercial property estate evaluation and masterplans in Manchester and Cardiff and several new secondary schools. He is currently working on the £13m conservation, refurbishment and new build ‘Footprint’ project at Bath Abbey.

Alice Laws

Alice works closely with the Partners on many different elements of managing the business for the Practice, including producing fee tenders; analysing the project resource requirements and benchmarking various elements of our business and working with the Finance Team on forecasting. Alice joined the FCBStudios Bath office in May 2002 as Richard Feilden's PA, from a background of account management in medical conference organising. Since 2008, Alice has been involved in fees and resourcing and from August 2016 working with the Managing Partners as Business Support Manager. She assists with the administration of the Richard Feilden Foundation. 

Alina White

Alina joined FCBStudios in 2002, first in the Bath office and then in London. Working mainly on residential and schools projects, she has gained strong experience of the delivery of projects on site, including: the Stirling Prize-winning Accordia housing in Cambridge; the RIBA award-winning Northampton Academy, a 1,420 pupil school with a specialism in Sport with Business and Enterprise; and the RIBA award-winning St Mary Magdalene Academy in Islington, a £30 million academy. She was the project architect for the One Brighton ‘One Planet Living’ community housing scheme and is currently working on the Falmer Academy a 1150 pupil secondary school in Brighton.

Andrew Macintosh

Andrew is an expert in residential and urban mixed-use projects, and is currently focused on Kirkstall Forge, a major new community on the edge of Leeds. He has also worked on education and cultural schemes including Drapers Academy, Southbank Centre, and the University of Southampton Transport Interchange. Andrew has a Masters in Environmental Design and has led environmental research projects both within the practice and with the UK Green Building Council. He played a key role on the One Brighton ‘One Planet Living’ community and Peabody’s Retrofit for the Future projects, which have set new standards in environmental design. He is also a volunteer on architectural projects in the UK and Uganda.

Anja Grossmann

Since joining FCBStudios in 2014, Anja has used her experience of developing mixed-use buildings and urban masterplans in a range of city-centre residential projects. She is currently focusing on a masterplan for the University of Cambridge and a new campus for the University of Bristol. Her interest in sustainability led her to design and construct a low carbon housing project in Uganda, and she now heads up a group of volunteers with the practice’s affiliated Richard Feilden Foundation. Anja is a qualified architect in Germany and the UK and previously worked for award-winning practices in London.

Aoife Keigher

Aoife joined FCBStudios in 2014, becoming an Associate in 2017. She has led a number of projects, primarily within the residential and educational sectors. Currently working as project architect for a new science-focused campus for a third level institution in Dublin, Aoife has also worked on  residential schemes from feasibility to planning stages in and around London. Prior to joining FCBStudios, Aoife worked for architectural practices in London and Melbourne, where she served on the board of governance of Open House Melbourne for six years and participated in the 2012 Glenn Murcutt Masterclass.

Colin Cobb

Colin has worked as project architect on a wide range of education and arts projects, including a 1600 place secondary school, sixth form, primary school and integrated special school in Plymouth, an academy in Worcester, and the award-winning Plymouth School of Creative Arts. As project architect, Colin has recently delivered the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, a state of the art music college for Birmingham City University specifically designed to cater for the demands of the digital age, which features a 480 seat orchestral concert hall, multiple smaller venues and a suite of recording studios. He joined FCBStudios Bath office in 2007 and became an Associate in 2016.

Ernst ter Horst

Ernst joined our Manchester studio in 2016. With an expertise in cultural projects, including the Queen Elizabeth Hall in Antwerp and the HOME arts centre in Manchester, he is currently leading the FCBStudios project to refurbish and extend Octagon Theatre Bolton. His experience on high-rise residential and mixed-use masterplans in Manchester, including the Beetham Tower and the acclaimed Kampus masterplan, draw parallels with our current work on Circle Square, on which Ernst is leading the private rented sector accommodation. Originating from Amsterdam and Porto, he now lives in Stretford and enjoys cycling into work on his Dutch bike.

Felix Hobson

Felix joined the London office in 2009, and has worked in the education, healthcare and residential sectors, with experience managing international multi-disciplinary teams and complex client groups. As project architect for Mildmay Shoreditch, he delivered a mixed-use inner city masterplan with particular responsibility for the specialist HIV hospital. His significant education experience includes work on the Westminster Under School, University of Ulster Belfast Campus and University of Southampton Masterplan and Business School projects. Having developed the scheme from feasibility stage, he is currently leading the delivery of the Aga Khan Academy in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Fliss Childs

Fliss heads up the Communications team overseeing all aspects of marketing and public relations for FCBStudios London, Bath, Manchester and Belfast offices. She joined FCBStudios Bath office in 2003 and became an Associate in 2016. Fliss specialises in communications project management, tactical media campaigns, reputation and issues management and collaborative partnerships and has coordinated and assisted in the production of all the major FCBStudios publications. Fliss represented the practice speaking at the Fassa Bortolo Awards for Sustainable Design and delivered a keynote at Design Fokus, University of Aalesund, Norway. 

George Wilson

Working primarily within the education and residential sectors, George’s experience of running complex schemes with multiple architectural teams, working closely with clients and leading the design team has resulted in the successful delivery of two RIBA award-winning schools and leading large scale residential projects from feasibility to tender. He has gained technical expertise in project delivery and dealing with major regeneration constraints. George is currently working on a large scale mixed-use masterplan in Leeds, including commercial offices, new homes and elements of creative re-use. George joined our London Office in 2006 and became an Associate in 2015.

Hester Brough

Hester joined FCBStudios in 2004 and is experienced in design for the office and higher education sectors. Currently project architect for the Centre for Student Life at Cardiff University, she was also instrumental in the phased refurbishment and extension of the 1960s Richmond Building for the University of Bristol and Bristol Student’s Union. Hester’s previous experience includes civic offices in Runnymede, Headquarters for The Woodland Trust and the award-winning Dyson Centre for Neonatal Care in Bath. Hester has a keen interest in sustainable design, soft landings and aftercare and has carried out Post Occupancy Evaluation studies for the Woodland Trust.

James Sibson

James is focused upon delivering design solutions developed from an intricate understanding of existing and historic buildings, structures and landscapes and follows the belief that a clear solution is at the core of every successful scheme. As an Architect Accredited in Building Conservation, James has strong experience of the assessment, repair and reuse of heritage assets. Since joining FCBStudios in 2014, James has lead projects including the renovation of Murrays’ Mills which has been noted by Historic England as one of the ten most influential buildings in Britain. James has lead aspects of work on Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings, Bath Abbey and several other major listed building projects.

Jayne Rolls
Associate / HR Manager

Jayne leads on all issues concerning recruitment, staff well-being and employment policy across the four FCBStudios offices. With an interest in emotional intelligence, communication and personal development she qualified as a Master Practitioner in Neuro Linguistic Programming in 2016.  Building on 12 years of experience working as a Studio Manager/PA for two major UK practices, Jayne joined FCBStudios in Feb 2007 and was appointed HR Manager in August of the same year. 

Joya Zaman

Joya joined FCBStudios in 2015 and became an Associate in 2018. She studied at Edinburgh University and the Barlett (UCL) and has worked in both Edinburgh and London. Her experience predominantly lies in residential, commercial and mixed-use projects and she is well versed in all stages of the building process. Joya is currently heading up the commercial aspect of Circle Square development in Manchester which consists of two speculative offices and subterranean pavilions below a landscaped public realm. This project is on site and due for completion in 2020. Joya is an active member of the BCO and is a mentor for younger members of the practice.

Julie Gaulter

At FCBStudios, Julie has played a key role on several large scale residential schemes including Sherwood Close, a major council estate regeneration in Ealing, and Embassy Gardens in Nine Elms. Julie is currently leading the Atlas project, a 32-storey development of high-quality student accommodation and leisure facilities in Vauxhall, and a new outpatient building for a major London NHS Trust. Prior to FCBStudios, Julie was at Hopkins Architects for 14 years where, as an Associate Partner, she designed and built award-winning, sustainable projects across a range of sectors including workplace headquarter buildings, civic and cultural buildings, university buildings and sports facilities. 

Kelly Green

Kelly joined FCBStudios in 2010, bringing with her 10 years of residential and commercial project experience in Australia and design, development and construction experience of major transport, residential and higher education projects across the UK. She has lead the Mildmay mixed-use scheme in Shoreditch, the design of Ulster University’s new Belfast Campus and a mixed use project for Wandsworth Council. Most recently Kelly has led a new outpatient building for a major London NHS Trust. Throughout her career she has developed a calm and considered approach towards complex multi-faceted projects and teams and one of her strengths is her wide range of experience and ability to cross over specialised sectors.

Matt Somerville

Matt joined FCBStudios in 2000, working initially on education projects including a new campus for the University of Gloucestershire and a City Academy in Bristol. He has since developed expertise in projects that address highly significant cultural and historic contexts, having recently overseen the design and construction of an RIBA National Award winning scheme at Chedworth Roman Villa for the National Trust. He currently leads our team at Alexandra Palace, London, working to bring derelict but highly significant parts of the 'People's Palace' back to public use. He has also developed proposals for the Archway Centre in Bath: a new learning and World Heritage centre at the Roman Baths.

Matt Williams

Matt has developed a significant body of work in the South West, focussing largely on projects that revitalise communities. He has a strong interest in specificity of ‘place’ and learning from the social, cultural, and historical characteristics of the area. His formative years were spent in Cornwall, working as a traditional boat builder before studying at the Welsh School of Architecture. These experiences began to shape his interest in craftsmanship, detailing, and materiality. Matt currently leads on the regeneration of Hayle Harbour: a historically significant, post-industrial landscape within the UNESCO Devon and Cornwall World Heritage Site. In 2015 Matt was awarded RIBA South West Project Architect of the Year.

Matthew Morrish

Matthew has built up an expertise in the conservation and refurbishment of listed buildings. He joined FCBStudios in 2007 initially working as Project Architect on the refurbishment and extension of the Grade II listed Magdalen Chapter Hotel in Exeter, creating new spa and pool buildings and contemporary interiors for the public spaces and bedrooms. Since 2013, Matthew has led Phase 1 of Brighton’s Royal Pavilion Estate re-development, creating new foyers, bars and performance infrastructure to the Grade I listed Brighton Dome Corn Exchange and Grade II listed Studio Theatre. Concurrently, he is designing a new art gallery and academic centre for the Auckland Castle Trust within Grade II listed buildings.

Nick Brindley

Since joining FCBStudios in 1999, Nick has worked on a wide range of cultural, healthcare, educational and residential projects. He has contributed to schemes including the Visitor Centre at Yorkshire Sculpture Park; Sizergh Castle Visitor Centre, Northumbria; a City Academy in Bristol; the refurbishment and extension of Pegasus Theatre in Oxford and The Richmond Building for the University of Bristol. Most recently he worked on the Dyson Centre for Neo-Natal Care at Bath's Royal United Hospital. Having recently completed a new Library for the University of Roehampton, Nick is currently Project Architect for the residential development of the former HMP Kingston in Portsmouth.

Nick Hodges

Nick joined FCBStudios in 2003. He was lead envelope architect for The Hive, Worcester and for MMU Student’s Union and is currently project architect for Roehampton University Library. He was closely involved in The Richmond Building, Bristol, Bennets Courtyard Housing, London, Longwell Green Leisure Centre and the new common room and café for Kellogg College, Oxford. He is experienced in construction detailing and project delivery, and has a particular interest in materiality and tectonics. Nick champions sustainable design and living across the practice, and has delivered a number of environmentally innovative projects, including achieving BREEAM Outstanding at the Hive. He is a Part III professional studies examiner for a number of UK courses.

Richard Battye

Richard has been instrumental in two RIBA award-winning buildings: St Mary Magdalene Academy and Drapers’ Academy. Richard is currently leading a team at Southbank Centre, working to re-equip the outstanding brutalist concrete buildings of the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room and Hayward Gallery for their next 50 years as venues for visual and performing arts. Richard is an accomplished photographer, documenting much of the life and work of the practice; highlights include Explore article 26 and his portraits of the Partners and Associates on the website. Richard joined FCBStudios in 2005 and was made an Associate in 2015.

Ron Nkomba

Ron joined FCBStudios in 2000 after completing his studies at the University of Cape Town. He works primarily in the school and higher education sectors, and has developed an expertise in secondary school design and procurement. Having assisted in the delivery of numerous schools projects, including RIBA-award-winning schemes for St Mary Magdalene Academy, Chelsea Academy and the William Perkin Church of England High School, Ron is currently project architect on The Charter School East Dulwich, FCBStudios’ largest school to date. Ron was also involved in helping to establish the FCBStudios Charity Group, instigating the first project for a clinic in Malawi for Mzuzu University.

Simon Branson

Simon was the first architect to join our newly-opened Manchester office in 2015. He is passionate about the value of design and delivering environmentally and socially sustainable buildings, evident in his range of award-winning projects including the Stirling Prize nominated Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester as well as the New Medieval and Renaissance Galleries at the V&A London. Simon is currently working on Murrays’ Mills in Manchester, a major project to convert and transform the oldest standing steam-powered cotton mill in the world into a residential development at the heart of a new community. He regularly tutors at The Universities of Liverpool, Greenwich and Sheffield.

Simon Richardson

Simon joined the FCBStudios London office in 2007 and has worked on numerous projects of all sizes and all stages of design. He has developed a range of educational expertise through his work on the University of Southampton, School of Civil Engineering Data Centre, Highfield Humanities College, the Benenden Science Centre, and Nine Elms Parkside primary school. He is currently project associate for St Albans Place, 376 units of student accommodation in Leeds, and the PRS development on High Street Manchester. In recent years he has been focused on mixed-use developments, including Colindale Gardens north London, Embassy Gardens in Nine Elms Battersea, and the refurbishment of the Hayward Gallery.   

Stephane Lambert

Stephane joined the FCBStudios London office in 2014 having previously worked in Paris, Los Angeles and London for international architecture practices. Stephane has developed an expertise in masterplanning, urban regeneration and mixed-use projects and is currently project lead for development frameworks in Belfast and Oxford. He led the masterplan design and outline phases for the Colindale Gardens project in north London, a major 20ha 3,000 unit development currently under construction. Stephane previously worked for the London Borough of Brent leading the revised masterplan for the South Kilburn Estate and the Palmerston mixed-use development in Battersea. 

Stephen Gallagher

Stephen joined FCBStudios Belfast office in 2016 and is part of the team responsible for the multi-disciplinary compliance monitoring role on the £165m Ulster University project, which relocates an out-of-town campus into Belfast City Centre. He is also involved in a number of other smaller schemes in the city aimed at harnessing the regeneration momentum being created by this large scale urban intervention. Stephen has been a design tutor at both Queen's and Ulster Universities and is a former Council member of the Royal Society of Ulster Architects (RSUA), where he was Chair of the “Practice Services Scheme”. He regularly contributes building reviews to the RSUA monthly publications.  

Steve Wilby

Steve joined FCBStudios in 2006 with experience and expertise in high specification commercial and residential projects. He has honed this expertise on Kirkstall Forge, a masterplan for a new urban village in Leeds; a major mixed-use scheme in Bath comprising of education and commercial uses; and a residential-led development in Manchester. Steve’s education work includes a major extension and new gallery space to the University of Manchester’s faculty of art, where he oversaw the recladding and refurbishment of a 1960s tower block to improve its environmental performance and the office and learning spaces within it and Aston University Engineering Academy, Birmingham.

Tania Hiscox

Tania is office manager for the Bath office responsible for managing the premises and office and project support teams. She is also the lead support role for project and practice systems for the London, Bath and Belfast offices. PA to Keith Bradley, she acts as coordinator for the Bath office, holding the diary and agenda for the principal management meetings, office and project support team and premises management. Ultimately she ensures the smooth and efficient operation of the Bath Office. 

Theo Dales

Theo joined the Bath office in 2009 to work on complex and large-scale historical refurbishment projects such as Ditherington Flax Mill and Lowther Castle. In 2011 he was part of the team which set up the new Belfast office and delivered  the new campus for University of Ulster, on which he was involved in detailed consultation and took a strong design role on the overall massing and internal organisation. He is currently project architect for the Darwin Development for The University of Edinburgh’s School of Biological Sciences. Theo has also spent time on smaller charity projects which involving consultation with local community groups as well as curating the 2016 ‘What’s the Big Idea?' talks hosted in Belfast.

Tim Greensmith

Tim joined the practice in 2006 bringing with him a wealth of experience in re-energising some of the nation’s most cherished historic buildings. Over the past decade he has delivered a string of national and international award-winning Heritage Lottery Funded projects including; Museum of Somerset, Chedworth Roman Villa, and Middleport Pottery. He is passionate about heritage-led regeneration through creating inspiring places to live and work. He is currently working with Historic England to transform Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings, the world’s oldest iron framed building and with Turquoise Mountain on an exemplar of re-use in the downtown area of Yangon, Myanmar.  

Tim Healy

Tim joined FCBStudios in 2007 and specialises in higher education and arts & culture projects. He was the project architect for the Leventis Art Gallery, a new public art gallery in Nicosia Cyprus. He led design proposals for the Conde Nast College of Fashion and Design in Soho London, and was part of the team that gained planning permission for a mixed-use scheme on Hayle South Quay. He delivered a new 500 seat lecture theatre for the Social Sciences faculty for the University of Bristol and achieved planning permission and detail design for the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Tim worked on the detail and technical design for the first phase of the Brighton Dome redevelopment and is currently delivering it on site.

Tim Weeden

Tim joined FCBStudios in 2005 and became an associate in 2016. He has worked within a range of sectors, recently completing a private house in Cheyne Walk, London and the Thomas Gainsborough School in Sudbury, Suffolk. Previous school projects include the RIBA award-winning Brighton Aldridge Community Academy and Eastbourne Academy, while student housing projects include Richard Feilden House at Queen Mary University and UrbanNest Hoxton Student Apartments in Shoreditch. More recently, Tim has been working on the refurbishment and extension of the Grade I Listed Control Building at Jodrell Bank, a two-form entry primary school in West Silvertown and a secondary school in Hackney.
