We aim to make you feel part of the team the minute you walk through the door

Through a variety of induction processes, an informal reporting structure and great teamwork we try to bring out the best in every one of our staff.

The range of our architectural work is extremely broad and includes housing, universities, creative reuse, schools and swimming pools. So when you join Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios you should be prepared to develop new skills and to challenge your existing knowledge.

When not designing award-winning buildings we organise regular social, sporting and design events. We have an annual Awayday and Summer Party, we have an unbeaten Softball team playing against other design practices as well as 5-a -side football events.

We do life drawing, sketching weekends, architectural and cultural visits and frequently create events and exhibitions such as the Bath Forum and the London Festival of Architecture. In addition to the usual benefits we also offer a free daily lunch, annual profit share and a comprehensive professional development programme.

Open Positions

Software Engineer

Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios is an AJ100 architectural firm at the leading edge of environmentally sustainable design. Our small - but ambitious and growing - internal software team makes bespoke applications to support the administration, aspirations and growth of the practice.

We’re now seeking a self-motivated, part-time software engineer who can aid our rapid transition to new technologies and higher coding standards, while also offering personable support for a series of legacy applications. The ideal candidate is therefore a .NET and web generalist seeking a supportive, friendly work culture with flexible hours/working pattern around our core hours (10am-3pm), one who has a broad range of experience, the ability to learn quickly and an appetite for problem-solving.

The successful applicant will improve or repurpose older code in line with the overall software plan. To begin with, the bulk of the project work will involve breaking up monoliths and common functions into small apps and microservices. Along with creating ‘playbooks’ for supporting apps, you will provide support to FCBStudios users with queries about software on a day to day basis. There is also the potential to lead on new projects.

To be considered for the role, applicants must be able to demonstrate:
• Good written and spoken English
• Excellent people skills
• Strong knowledge of .NET Core and C#, also working familiarity with ASP.NET MVC, Web Forms and .NET classic.
• Excellent Javascript and at least one of the following frameworks: Vue, React, Angular.
• Knowledge of JQuery, for legacy applications.
• Confident with JSON and XML
• Good handle on CSS and specifically LESS.
• DRY coding as a minimum and a focus on maintainability
• Entity Framework
• Powershell (beneficial but not essential)

Salary up to £38,000 pro rata dependent on experience.

Hours 22.5 hours per week which can be worked flexibly but ideally to include a Friday.

Deadline for applications is Friday 7th May. Successful applicants will be contacted w/c 10th May with interviews taking place w/c 17th May.

Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all members of the community.

We regret that due to the high number of applications we receive; only applicants shortlisted for interview will be contacted.
