Ian Taylor

Ian has extensive experience in arts and culture, healthcare, low-energy masterplanning, universities, schools, workplaces, and innovative housing projects, including One Brighton, the country’s first One Planet Living housing development, the repair and renewal of Southbank Centre, masterplanning for the  Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and the LSE and schools in the UK and Bangladesh.

His work with FCBStudios, and previously with Bennetts Associates and Arup Associates, has earned him seventeen RIBA awards, two of which made the Stirling Prize shortlist.

Ian leads our higher education sector, and since 2008 he has been a prominent member of the Higher Education Design Quality Forum (HEDQF). In 2016 he edited an HEDQF-sponsored book, ‘Future Campus – Design Quality in University Buildings’.

Beyond his role on projects, Ian leads FCBStudios’ Research and Innovation group and has been involved in the development of sustainable design guidance, Carbon Calculator tool FCBS Carbon as well as post-occupancy evaluation methodologies. Ian is a visiting professor at UCL IEDE.
